Freeway's Ang Kiukok Collection
Painter extraordinaire Ang Kiukok is Freeway's artist of choice for the second installment of the National Artist Collectors' Series. His powerful paintings are immortalized in a selection of limited edition items: tees, jackets, tops, dresses, skirts, bags, necklaces, and a watch. Each bears his fanciful artwork—clowns turned contortionists, fishermen at work, figures mid-scream—for everyone to own. Purchases come in special packaging, complete with an Ang Kiukok signature printed on.
This set, with Kiukok's poignant cubist images, delivers a different effect from the first National Artist Collectors' Series featuring writer Nick Joaquin. Since Freeway pairs up with a painter this time around, the graphic elements come out very strong, almost jumping out of their respective fashion canvasses.
The collection will be available starting November 4 and will continue to be in-stores until early December. Pre-orders are now being taken at each Freeway outlet, should you want to get first dibs on the loot. Part of the proceeds of this effort will be donated to the Dominican Sisters of Regina Rosarii—the charity of choice for the Kiukok family.
